History

Founding EAR – Esoteric Audio Research Ltd was established in England in 1976 with the EAR 509, a 100 watt valve monoblock power amplifier. The product was a balance of performance, reliability, size and cost which is why it is still in production today. The power amplifier left a solid foundation to design future EAR products. Since that time, there has been a full range of product built under this original philosophy. Ranging from studio recording equipment that captures the sound, through to recreating that sound in your living room.

EAR 88PB

Full featured dedicated phonostage with two inputs catering for the vinyl enthusiast with multiple turntables or arms. With both Moving coil and moving magnet capability as standard, its designed to handle a wide range of cartridges.

EAR 324

One of the few transistor based design's of Tim de Paravicini, the EAR 324 is a high grade phonostage worthy to be in the EAR lineup. Both Moving coil and moving magnet capability designed to handle a wide range of cartridges.

EAR 868

Handling a variety of analogue sources, the EAR 868 is designed to be the most capable of analogue pre-amps. With 5 analogue inputs, connect your Hi-Fi to the latest devices, like the EAR Dac 4. EAR 912

The EAR 912 is a culmination of Tim de Paravicini’s work with professional studios. Specifically designed for playback in studios, inheriting the product a rich feature set in addition to its high grade sound. Despite these advanced capabilities, it still has style and grace to make it feel at home anywhere. Subtle professional influences such as the UV meters and solid aluminium handles reinforce that this is not just another preamp.

EAR V12

The V12 utilises EAR Yoshino’s rich tradition of workmanship, blending high calibre engineering with craft. Beautiful hand selected and polished wooden end caps on the ‘half moon’ valve covers add a simple but distinctive touch to the design making each EAR V12 unique. Chrome transformer covers suggesting a sleek aerodynamic power block, with sufficient power in reserve for the most demanding audio terrain. EAR 890

Push-pull power amplifier using eight KT90 output valves (four per channel). 70 Watts per channel stereo (bridgeable to 140 watts mono) into 4, 8, or 16 ohms. Self-biasing design with Balanced or unbalanced input.

EAR 509

The EAR 509 mono was born to serve professional studios. The nature of high fidelity in studios makes it perfectly suited for audio playback in the home. The 100 Watt mono is a Tim de Paravicini design classic that has been in continual production for over 30 years. Its timeless rectilinear form is hand finished in polished chrome giving a clean and elegant look. Despite its high power, it has been refined to be densely packaged without sacrificing any performance enabling the compact design.

EAR Acute Classic

With sleek modern styling and more than a nod to classic quality, the EAR Acute Classic is built to last. Its details are lavished by a hand-polished mirror chrome finish, forming the basis of a timeless design. Its aesthetic is married to leading digital and analogue technology, creating a visual and audible feast for the senses. The display and power light both emit a luxurious warm hue, providing subtle cues to the glowing valves within. The large volume knob is also a statement of the product’s analogue nature, emphasising the simplicity of interaction. This is honoured by the Acute’s interface, which makes it even more intuitive to experience your digital media.

EAR Dac 4

The EAR Dac 4 is an amalgamation of technology and classic craftsmanship. The design is built with a precision machined chrome plated facia, equipped with a matching volume control and punctuated by discrete LED indicators. Machined chromed buttons further compliment the design and inform of its solid construction. The Dac 4 will be a focal point of your digital media and can be accessorised with the EAR Acute 4 for all of your audio disc needs.

EAR Acute 4

The EAR Acute 4 was designed with a beautiful chrome facia made with a high level of precision. Eight polished chromed buttons are directly placed above the solid aluminium disc tray, enabling easy interface access. Fitting to the design, a calm and soft vacuum fluorescent graphic display indicates player information and includes CD text. Accompanying the unit is a weighty infrared remote control. Built with soft touch rubber for durability and tactility, topped with a luxurious aluminium enclosure allowing for operation of both the Acute and Dac 4.

Designed for the highest fidelity in headphones. Using four 6SL7 valves for the clearest of sound. Developed for studio use with the ability to drive any headphones with one watt of power utilising an enhanced triode mode circuitry.
